Booksellers Aotearoa New Zealand

Booksellers Aotearoa New Zealand is the national membership association for bookshops, championing books and bookselling across the motu since 1921. From its head office in Wellington, a small team of three, led by the Association Manager and guided by a board of working booksellers, runs services such as Booksellers Tokens and Gift Cards, the BookHub online bookshop directory, the Buying Group, and national campaigns like Bookshop Day. Its membership spans more than 100 bookshops nationwide, from small independents and secondhand dealers to chain, franchise, specialist and campus stores. Bookselling is mostly learned on the job, and Booksellers supports career growth through its annual conference, Book Industry Awards (including recognition for emerging booksellers), and scholarships that send booksellers to international events such as the BookPeople conference in Australia. Join a Booksellers member store to turn a love of reading into a career, with pathways from the shop floor into store management, bookshop ownership, or the wider publishing industry.
